Kinesiology Department Practicum

During Summer 2024, I participated in a practicum with the Kinesiology Department at UGA. I worked with Lisa Taylor, a 69 year old women with mild cognitive impairment from a stroke, Parkinson’s disease and who had previously broken her elbow from a fall. I created a fitness regimen and diet plan to work on her walking mobility and overall physical health. I worked with Dr. Frederick to come up with speech therapy activities that were fun but challenging for Mrs. Taylor. Over the 1.5 months I worked with Mrs. Taylor, her mobility and self confidence improved and I enjoyed the opportunity to build a relationship with her as my client during this practicum.

During this class, I worked with some other students to create a class presentation on Parkinson’s Disease.
